Peru Flag Coloring Page

The shield on the state flag carries a vicuña, a cornucopia and a cinchona tree, marking Peru’s animal, mineral and plant wealth in the middle of the design; the cornucopia is shown spilling coins. One story behind the red-white-red stripes is told of a dream General San Martín had of a red and white flamingo, the parihuana, on the southern coast — the telling belongs to the author Abraham Valdelomar, and the symbolism of the colours is not certain. The red at the sides also stands for the blood spilled for independence, and the white centre stripe for purity and peace; the plain version of the flag leaves the white middle bare.

Fill the outer red stripes with broad vertical strokes first and keep the middle white. If you colour the state design with coat of arms, the shield sits exactly in the centre of the white band, so leave that spot to the end.
