A condor spreads its wings above the coat of arms at the centre of the flag, the bird that stands for the power and strength of Ecuador. Inside the shield, Mount Chimborazo rises above a winding river, while a golden sun shines at the top and laurel and palm branches frame the sides. Yellow stands for the crops and fertile soil, blue for the ocean and clear skies, and red for the blood of the heroes who died for their country and its freedom.
Start with the wide yellow band at the top using long horizontal strokes, then fill the blue and red bands below it. The coat of arms in the centre is detailed, with the condor, the mountain and the sun, so leave that part for last and use a fine tip.
