A blue Star of David sits in the centre of a white field, with two blue stripes running near the top and bottom edges. The stripes recall the blue threads woven into the Jewish prayer shawl, the tallit, and the Star of David has been a symbol of the Jewish people since the seventeenth century. The flag was based on the Zionist banner adopted at the First Zionist Congress in 1897 and became the official flag of the state on 28 October 1948.
Leave the white field empty and colour just the two blue stripes and the Star of David. Draw the top and bottom stripes first with long horizontal strokes, then trace the six-pointed star in the centre with a fine tip.
