Print this free Iceland flag coloring page, then colour the blue with a white-edged red cross using the guide below. The Icelandic flag was adopted in 1915.
The current design dates from 19 June 1915, when King Kristján X issued a decree adding a red cross inside the white cross to distinguish the flag from similar foreign designs. It became the national flag in 1918, and Law No. 34 of 17 June 1944 — the day Iceland became a republic — defines it today. The colours are commonly read as the landscape: red for volcanic fire, white for ice and snow, and blue for the mountains and the surrounding sea.
Fill the blue field first with long strokes, then leave the white cross empty — it is the border between the field and the red cross. Finish with the red cross inside, keeping all four arms straight and even.
