Three horizontal bands of red, white and green have been Hungary's flag since the revolution of 1848, and the same colours appear on medieval royal seals and coronation banners going back centuries. Red stands for strength, white for faithfulness and green for hope — a meaning that became part of the constitution in 2012. The plain tricolour without a coat of arms has been the official flag since 1957, after the communist emblem was removed following the revolution of 1956.
Start with the red band at the top using long horizontal strokes, then leave the white middle band empty, and finish with the green band at the bottom. The flag has no emblem, so the three bands are all you need.
