A double cross stands on the middle peak of three blue hills near the hoist — the cross is a symbol of Christian faith. The design comes from a 14th‑century coat of arms of Hungary, whose three hills the designers Ladislav Čisárik and Ladislav Vrtel enlarged to make them a national symbol. The white, blue and red tricolour uses the pan‑Slavic colours, and blue entered the Slovak flag for the first time in 1848 after the Slavic Congress; the coat of arms was added in the Constitution of Slovakia on 3 September 1992.

Colour the three horizontal bands first — leave the top white one empty, fill the blue middle band and then the red bottom band with long strokes. The double cross and three hills sit near the hoist, so save that part for last and work it with a fine tip.
