An eagle with spread wings fills the centre of the yellow band, holding a cross in its beak and carrying a blue and red shield on its chest. The shield bears the traditional arms of the Principality of Moldavia — a golden aurochs head with a star between its horns, flanked by a rose to one side and a crescent to the other. The blue, yellow and red vertical bands echo the flag of Romania, and the design was adopted on 6 November 1990.
Colour the three vertical bands first — blue at the hoist, yellow in the middle, then red at the fly — with long steady strokes from top to bottom. The eagle and shield in the centre are small and full of detail, so finish them last with a fine tip and careful edges.
